This July will be 2 years since I went alcohol free. It was a personal choice made after realizing that alcohol doesn't align with my life's path or in my best interest. My dad passed away from a cancer linked to alcohol. As a matter of face, most cancers are linked to alcohol. Being a breast cancer survivor (I'd like to say warrior) with a willingness to live a long and healthy life, I decided that removing alcohol from my existence was a great choice.

I'm not here to tell you or anyone else to drink or not to drink. I am here to share information on the topic of what alcohol can do to us. When we peel away the veil that advertisers and others put in front of us as to the benefits of alcohol, we see that our health - physical and emotional - suffers. I invited Laura Valvasori - also on a mission to help others relinquish the control that alcohol may have on them - to share her story.

In navigating the journey to sobriety, Laura emphasizes the significance of internal work and mindset shifts. She encourages listeners to view the decision to quit alcohol as a personal experiment, allowing them to explore how their bodies and minds respond to the change. By treating it as an experiment, individuals can observe the positive impacts on their health and well-being, ultimately making informed decisions about their long-term lifestyle choices

In this episode, Laura shares her remarkable transformation from a wine enthusiast to a wellness advocate embracing an alcohol-free lifestyle. Laura's journey is a testament to the power of self-awareness and the impact of lifestyle choices on our overall well-being. Her story began in her early 40s when she experienced heartburn and anxiety, which led her to question her relationship with alcohol. Inspired by Annie Grace's "This Naked Mind," Laura decided to embark on an experiment to explore life without alcohol. This decision sparked a journey of self-discovery and inspired her to create the "Still Me but Alcohol-Free" program to help others on similar paths.

One of the central themes of the episode is the social dynamics involved in quitting alcohol. Laura discusses the challenges and fears associated with making such a personal decision, especially when alcohol is deeply intertwined with social interactions. She emphasizes the importance of mindset and how initial concerns about judgment from friends and loved ones often transform into unexpected support. This episode delves into the nuances of maintaining relationships while abstaining from alcohol, highlighting the importance of respecting others' choices and finding non-alcoholic alternatives to enjoy social settings without feeling left out.

Laura also sheds light on the often-overlooked health risks associated with alcohol consumption. Alcohol is classified as a class one carcinogen, and its links to various cancers, including breast cancer, are not widely known. The podcast discusses alarming statistics, such as the fact that only a small percentage of the population is aware of alcohol's connection to cancer. By sharing her personal stories and insights, Laura underscores the need for greater awareness and the importance of leading by example to encourage others to reconsider their drinking habits.

Laura's program, "Still Me but Alcohol-Free," offers a structured six-week journey to help individuals understand and navigate life without alcohol. Available as a self-guided experience or in a group format, the program includes modules on the effects of alcohol, mindset shifts, stress alternatives, and maintaining an alcohol-free lifestyle. Laura's personal journey into Reiki and the Emotion Code is a testament to the transformative power of these practices, providing a holistic approach to mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Through her inspiring story and expert insights, Laura Vavasori offers a compelling case for embracing an alcohol-free lifestyle. Her journey highlights the profound health benefits, the potential for personal growth, and the importance of self-awareness in achieving a vibrant, authentic life. Whether you're considering sobriety or seeking support on your wellness journey, this podcast episode provides valuable guidance and encouragement.

If you know anyone who would benefit from this episode, please share it with them. You never know who may be the one who is secretly desiring to drop drinking and all they need is some inspiration.
