This month we are gifted with a second Full Moon (known as the Blue Moon) on Halloween.

This full moon occurs in the sign of Taurus. It opens up a ‘pathway’ for us to dive deep into our emotions and to recognize those emotions, habits or relationships that no longer serve us. Those things in our life that keep us stuck from growing and from moving forward.

This past year has been difficult or challenging on many levels. We had to make adjustments and create a ‘new norm’ or new ‘comfort zones’. These new habits may not be serving us. For example, perhaps, now, we worry more or are more fearful. By continuing to feel this way we have established a new pattern in which we live our lives. Living with constant worry and fear can only take a toll on our physical and mental harmony.

Or perhaps you are constantly purchasing things online because you don’t visit the mall as often and are looking for quick' pick me ups' when you get that item delivered. Do you really need all those things? Are they really ‘sparking joy?’ Take time to reflect on what we have created in this ‘new norm’ that we need to release in order to create space within and embrace a new and better year.

Taurus also reminds us that there is beauty all around. Everywhere you go you can always find something that can catch our breath or make us smile. It can be visual or it can just be a feeling. Beauty is defined by unique or individual experiences. What I find to be beautiful may not be beautiful for someone else. All of our senses should be included when we look for beauty. Taste, sound, smell, visual. Surround yourself with what you define as beautiful.

The Sun is in the sign of Scorpio - a water sign. Water rules emotions. Water can also be symbolic for fluid movement. Water flows and can be calm, when nothing disturbs it, or can be turbulent like rough waters. Sometimes, our own feelings can be calm but at other times they can be turbulent. It’s important to recognize when we feel an emotion that is bubbling within us that may need to be felt - to be released. The Full Moon invites us to shed light on those emotions. To ‘feel the feels’. But once these emotions surface how do we handle what comes up?

Journaling is a great way to help you communicate your feelings. To get it all out on paper. To purge feelings without putting any structure around them. Just write. I always encourage my clients to journal. It’s a way of expressing yourself. Taurus rules the Throat Chakra. The throat chakra is the center of our expression - how we communicate. If we don’t get out what is bubbling up inside of us then it remains inside and creates disharmony in the body and mind. Even putting angry words to paper is helpful. I’ve done it - it really helps.

Another way is to move the body and calm the mind. Qi Gong is a great way to fluidly move the body and the energy around you. Yin Yoga is a a more passive practice that allows us to be more reflective and compassionate with ourselves. Meditation is a way of inviting stillness within but also creating space in our minds for those thoughts and emotions to surface and be recognized.

Crafting is also a creative way that can help us release pent up energy. I always find that I begin my knitting projects around this time and it helps to center me. We can benefit from any type of ‘practice’ that we find to be grounding.

Here are some questions you can reflect upon during this Full Moon.

1. What are some new norms or comfort zones that may be limiting you (these can be situations, people, things).

2. What emotions, feelings, or reactions have been recurring for you that you’re tired of and would really like to eliminate or lessen?

For this Full Moon (and every Full Moon) create a ritual for yourself. Move your body, meditate for 10 minutes, take a long luxurious bath, use essential oils, and get your crystals. Take out your journal and start writing. Start writing what you no longer need in your life. And watch the magic happen.
