I woke up this morning from deep dreaming. I was tired because I feel that I sometimes travel places in my dreams to do spiritual work. I know that may sound weird but I have felt this type of ‘night shift’ work for some time. In my dreams I meet all kinds of people experiencing different events. They seem very real and I also remember most of my dream upon wakening.

After I got up I opened my screen door to step outside as I do every  morning for some fresh air and to greet the sky, trees and animals. At that moment a huge hawk, that must have been perched on my house, flew across the backyard and onto a tree limb. It was a beautiful sight to see it fly so close to me. It’s not the first time a hawk has been nearby. As a matter of fact it is my Spirit Animal.  Hawks are constantly showing up for me. Not just in real life but in many other ways such as in dreams and oracle cards.

Animals have their own spiritual meaning. Hawks depict protection, independence, clairvoyance and spiritual messages. When I see a hawk I pause and think about what is happening in my life. What journeys am I on at the moment.  What am I not ‘seeing’. Hawks fly so high above everything and their perspective is so different. This is an indication for me to see the big picture, to be discerning and look for more details.  Maybe move back and away from a situation and notice things that I didn’t see before.

Another reminder for me is to connect with Spirit. Perhaps my day-to-day busyness has prevented me from stopping and tuning inwards or connecting with my guides, angels and council for guidance.  Hawks (and birds) are our connection to this energy. They carry the messages that we need.

We all have a unique Spirit Animal that works with us or perhaps different Spirit animals that show up in different ways. If you see a beautiful deer in your path or a swan in your backyard creek, it has a special meaning for you. Look up the its spiritual meaning. It may help clarify something that you are working on.  You can find many sites on the internet. Find a site that you resonate with. And they don’t have to be real animals they can be mythical like a Dragon or Phoenix.   Who doesn’t love a Phoenix rising from the ashes depicting transformation and change! (We Harry Potter fans do!)

You can have many spirit animals. They can also be a departed loved animal/pet that you had whose energy is always around you. I often tell people whose pet crossed rainbow bridge that if you listen closely you can still hear their chirps, footprints or feel them snuggle next to you.

So, if you notice a little rabbit on your heels, or you keep seeing photos of the same animal, or you feel ‘connected’ to a certain furry or feathered creature, be open to learning about their ‘meaning’.
